GYOTAKU PRINTING AT HOME
Thanks for attending art classes at Pipit
Here’s a bit of extra info to help you practise at home
ART SUPPLIES
You can buy print making basics from any art supply store
Below samples are from Eskersley but try any retailer
Sumi Inks - https://www.eckersleys.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=sumi%20ink
Rice Papers (sheets or rolls) - https://www.eckersleys.com.au/rice-papers
For retouches – find Charcoal Pencils, Brushes with Sumi Ink, Ink Pens
FLATTENING & FRAMING
Professional framers will mount rice paper to flatten and reduce creases. *double-check your framer is comfortable with thin rice papers as not all framers will do it
We use Left Bank Art Group (Gold Coast) - https://leftbankartgroup.com.au/
You can try flattening DIY at home - google “friction mounting” or “flattening prints” https://agaveprintstudio.com.au/flattening-prints-on-japanese-paper/
